St. Joseph County United Way hopes to top its 2020 WBET "Radiothon" donations May 27, at the 12th annual event.
Last year’s fundraiser for St. Joseph County United Way raised $103,000 through the 18-hour radio event, executive director Kelly Hostetler said Wednesday.
Proceeds from the fundraiser marathon benefit the 40 funded agencies the local United Way supports, Hostetler said. Money is placed in the general fund and allocated as needed.
This year, Hostetler said, the organization’s goal is to serve the agencies more evenly, including those that focus on children, education and camps.
“Last year, our food and emergency services received priority funding,” she said, referring to the pandemic and the extensive need it created.
