Rick and his wife Jennie have been together for 22+ years.
They moved to Leonard in 2002 after he accepted a position with the Trenton Police Department.
One could say that their house is full of love, especially with six children.
Rick’s oldest son David (25) resides in Mineral Wells and works at a local wire and cable company.
Chase (24), who resides in Rockwall, is a graduate of Leonard High School and currently working on a Computer Science degree at Texas A&M Commerce.
Cassidy (18), who just graduated from Leonard High School in 2017, is now attending Grayson County College, studying to be a registered nurse.
Over the past year, through several months of stress and the unknown, the Burns family fostered three children, all being siblings.
Destiny (18) graduated from Leonard High School in 2017 and is attending Grayson County College.
Destiny is working on her Associates Degree and once completed, will transfer to Sam Houston State University to finish out her Bachelors and Masters degree in Criminal Justice; Destiny wants to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
Jacob and Allison (13) are twins and are attending Leonard Junior High.
Allison hopes to follow her sister Destiny into the FBI and Jacob wants a career in the military.

Rick knew from an early age that he wanted to serve his community.
In fact, for most of his adult life, he has done that as a law enforcement officer.
During his 17-year career, he has worked for Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Trenton Police Department, and Bonham Police Department.
In January 2013, Rick began working for the Collin County Constable’s Office, where he was promoted to Chief Deputy in September 2013.
Through his dedication and commitment of service and the desire to learn, Rick has become proficient in civil process.
As the Chief Deputy, Rick has the responsibility of processing all the specialized writs assigned to his office.
These writs can be extremely time consuming and require someone that is focused on procedure and attention to detail.
Rick is also involved in the daily administrative duties within the office.
He supervises nine deputies and two clerks, maintains their schedules and training.
Rick is responsible for developing the department’s annual budget and maintaining that budget throughout the year.
As a bailiff for the JP Court, Rick has been able to observe firsthand the proper proceedings of the court, including civil cases, criminal cases, jury and non-jury trials, bond forfeiture cases, protective order cases, eviction cases, and many more..
