Detailed description is The RSD is driven by a shared goal to prepare ALL kids for college and careers. Our schools are powered by their families, students, teachers, principals, boards and support staff. The Recovery School is a statewide special school district administered by the Louisiana Department of Education. Created by legislation passed in 2003, the RSD’s mission is to provide the supports and interventions necessary to put academically struggling schools on a path toward success. In the 2011-12 school year, the RSD will include 15 traditional public schools and 50 public charter schools in New Orleans, as well as 35 schools in other parishes around the state.
