on Sunday morning.
Worship begins at 11:00 and the hospitality continues after service at noon for treats and coffee if you would like to stay.

Faith Explorer members study the bible together, as well as have opportunities to volunteer, go to Clearwater Forest Presbyterian Camp, and participate in other fun activities as a group.

The J.M.
Paine Presbyterian church has a rich history dating back to the 1800's.
In 1873 the Presbyterians in Thomson, and Carlton (known then as Northern Pacific Junction) began working with the Reverend James A.
Laurie to petition the Presbyterian Synod of Minnesota and the St.
Paul Presbytery to establish a church in Northern Pacific Junction.
On November 23, 1879 their dream became a reality when the Olivet Presbyterian Church was formed.
There were nine founding members of the congregation.
Five of those nine members were from Ulster, Ireland..

The congregation grew over the next few years and a new building was needed.
With a generous donation of a half acre of land on Birch Street in Carlton and the donation of lumber from the W.W.
McNair family a new church was built and opened on October 19, 1884.
To recognize it's generous benefactors the church was renamed McNair Memorial Presbyterian Church..

The popularity of the church grew, the Sunday School and Youth Group were established along with the Women's Aid Society and the Women's Missionary Society.
Again the growing congregation needed a new home.
In 1910 the church was fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase the partially built Catholic Church building for $2,785.00.
Mrs.
J.M.
Paine--the widow of a successful lumberman made a significant monetary contribution to the church to make this happen.
To honor her gift, and with the blessing of the McNair family, the church was permanently renamed J.M.
Paine Presbyterian Church.
