There is a mix of familiar and new names seeking seats on the Howell City Council as well as the Mayor’s seat.
The deadline to file for the August primary was last Tuesday, with a total of eight candidates filing for three open seats. The six top vote-getters in the August primary will move on to the November general election. Among those seeking election are two incumbents; Jeannette Ambrose, who was appointed in 2018 and is seeking election to a second term; and Jan Lobur who was first appointed to Council in 2015 and was recently appointed Mayor Pro-Tem. ....

Dozens of Hudsonville parents and community members stand outside of a school board meeting Monday, April 15, where some parents urged school officials to make masks optional. School officials locked the doors to the meeting, citing capacity limits.

HUDSONVILLE, MI – Jenni Gamby says “enough is enough” when it comes to requiring masks inside Michigan schools.
The Hudsonville mom of three kids believes masks are detrimental to students’ mental health and hinder their ability to learn and socialize in the classroom. She said her two elementary-aged kids have suffered this school year as a result of COVID-19 restrictions like mask rules, virtual learning and social distancing. ....
