HOWELL – A resident has called the integrity of the Howell Township Council into question and seconded another resident’s previous call for an investigation into how a former councilman was able to ask specific questions about the 2021 municipal budget before the document had been released to the public. Resident Sheri Reavis has been a resident of Howell for 17 years, but the council’s April 27 meeting marked her first participation. She said she recently decided to pay more attention to local government. During her comments, Reavis referred to the governing body’s April 13 meeting when council members introduced the 2021 municipal budget. ....
Somehow, someway an NJ Transit Access Link Vehicle ended up in a creek along Wyckoff Mills Road in Howell and police are investigating how it all happened. The Howell Office of Emergency Management was asked to come to the scene of the accident on Monday, Howell OEM Coordinator Victor Cook tells Townsquare Media Monmouth-Ocean News, to assess the damage caused by the vehicle. Cook said Howell OEM is responsible for mitigating any possible hazardous materials in the Township. What OEM officials and police in Howell know at this point is that the bus came to rest in the creek positioned on an angle and on top of a high pressure sewer line. ....

Monmouth County News Briefs, Jan. 27 A series of virtual events geared exclusively for teenagers is offered on a regular basis by the Monmouth County Library. In February, a Trivia Night with rounds of questions focusing on books, movies, current events and sports will be offered for pre-teens between the ages of 7 and 12, but will be interesting and could be challenging for older teens. The Jeopardy-style night will be offered at 7 p.m. Feb. 17, according to a press release. For those interested in improving their SAT scores, math classes designed as a prep for the SATs will be offered Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. once a month through March, beginning Jan. 27 and continuing on Feb. 24 and March 31. ....
