“I don’t feel good about it. I’m mad. I got to go back and try to do something else again,” he said. “I just turned 70 years old and I can’t get a shot.”

For many, the isolation, grief, and anxiety of the COVID-19 pandemic seem to be nearing an end. Three vaccines have been tested and approved and are now being widely distributed. Vaccine hesitancy, however, remains an issue and in the African American community in particular. In a November survey by the Pew Research Center, only 42 percent of Black respondents said they were likely to get vaccinated, compared to 60 percent of respondents overall.
Heeding the call to care for their flock, Black churches have been working hard to address the concerns of community members. In February, another Pew survey found that the number of overall respondents who plan to get vaccinated (or already have) went from 60 to 69 percent and that the number of Black respondents went from 42 percent all the way to 6 ....

LGBTQ+ people in Chicago are more at risk for certain health conditions but less likely to receive care.
The social inequality and stigma afflicting the LGBTQ+ and TGNC (transgender and gender non-conforming) populations in Chicago creates a health-care quandary; they’re more susceptible to issues such as HIV, cancer, and suicide, yet less likely to receive care.
Nationally, LGBT youth are two to three times more likely to attempt suicide, gay men are at higher risk for HIV and other STDs, and transgender individuals have a higher prevalence of mental health issues, HIV/STDs, suicide, and less access to health insurance, according to the CDC.  ....

With an intense focus on tracking down and bringing persons who are wanted by the law in the parish to justice, the St James police have listed a number of such individuals, who are being asked to turn themselves in, this while members of the public are being asked to provide information, where applicable, on the whereabouts of the suspected felons.

How Daylight Saving Time Works

The Details on DST
DST delivers the most benefits when the days are long, as they are during summer. If you recall from your high school Earth science class, seasons are reversed in the Northern and Southern hemispheres. When it s summer in North America, it s winter in South America and vice versa. That means DST rules must also be reversed. In the Northern Hemisphere, DST starts in the spring typically between March and April and concludes in the fall between September and November. In the Southern Hemisphere, DST begins between September and November and ends between March and April. ....
