English town mourns victims of suspected terror attack

LONDON (AP) The English town of Reading mourned Monday for three people stabbed to death in what is being treated as a terror attack, gathering for a moment of silence as police questioned the suspected lone attacker.
More than 100 students lit candles and laid flowers in memory of history teacher James Furlong, who was named as one of the victims. At Holt School in nearby Wokingham, where he taught, a flag in the courtyard had been lowered to half-staff.
“He was so passionate and enthusiastic about history and about learning, and anything that was boring, anything you didn’t find interesting, he would make it interesting,″ former student Molly Collins told the BBC. “He would spend time with you, he got to know people individually, and he just always went the extra mile for everyone.” ....

Live Action Role Play STALKER event to be held at abandoned Holt school

HOLT A horde of mutants will invade Holt the weekend of Jan. 22-24. But fear not: armed and trained STALKERs are planning to converge on the North Okaloosa County community and prevent them from escaping The Zone.
That might not mean much to the average resident, but for fans of “STALKER, a series of first-person shooter survival video games, and of military simulations known as “milsim” in the vernacular and live-action role play (LARP), the event will be an exciting opportunity to completely immerse themselves into the game. (STALKER stands for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers and Robbers.)

Forbury Gardens terror knife attack: James Furlong's former student shares tribute

Mr Furlong was head of history, government and politics at The Holt School in Wokingham.
Thames Valley Police shared a touching tribute from one of James former students at the school.
The teacher s former student Tiggy Chadwick painted the portrait on the night James Furlong was identified as one of the Forbury three victims.
A post published by Thames Valley Police said: Today we heard the news that the terrorist who murdered three men in an unprovoked attack in Reading last June has been given a life sentence with a whole life order. One of these victims was James Furlong who was a teacher at the Holt School in Wokingham. ....

Remembering the victims of Forbury Gardens horror attack as killer is sentenced

James was a wonderful man. He was beautiful, intelligent, honest and fun.
He was the best son, brother, uncle and partner you could wish for. We are thankful for the memories he gave us all. We will never forget him and he will live in our hearts forever.
Martin Cooper, who is chief executive of LGBT+ charity Reading Pride, said Mr Furlong and Mr Ritchie-Bennett were great supporters and members of the community.
Their loss is a tragedy to so many people, he said. It was always a pleasure drinking and socialising and just being in their company.
Mr Ritchie-Bennett had moved to the UK from the US 15 years ago. ....
