The Ottawa company CANImmunize built Nova Scotia’s COVID-19 vaccine booking system. The company grew out an app created by Dr. Kumanan Wilson, a physician and senior researcher at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and engineer and now chief technology officer Cameron Bell. They created it almost a decade ago after a woman at a playground complained about the paper-based system of keeping track of vaccines using yellow cards.
