Investigation continues in fatal Greendale Township fire

Michigan State Police troopers continue to investigate a fatal fire that occurred on Wednesday in Greendale Township. At about 4:10 p.m. on Dec. 9, troopers responded to Volmer Drive north of School Road in Greendale Township, Midland County, after neighbors reported an explosion and fire at a trailer home.
Lee Township Fire Department and Homer Township Fire Department responded to the scene to fight the fire. Once the fire was out, investigators located 78-year-old Kenneth Lilly, deceased in the ruins.
Preliminary information indicates that Lilly was at the residence working on the trailer home’s furnace tenants previously reported smelling gas inside the trailer home. ....
