After the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was directed to reveal its internal documents on crypto communications in a pre-trial ruling against Ripple and the top management earlier this month, the regulator has now changed tactics to counter the defendant. According to a joint letter to US Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn filed on April 16, the lawyers representing defendants noted that the SEC was pursuing discovery outside the scope of the Federal Rules and the Hague Convention by improperly leveraging Memoranda of Understanding (“MOU”) with foreign regulators. ....
Maryland’s Republican governor issues order dropping majority of state’s COVID-19 restrictions Last Tuesday, Maryland’s Republican Governor Larry Hogan announced the issuing of an executive order lifting most restrictions put in place a year ago in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The order, which went into effect at 5 p.m. on Friday, is the most far-reaching reversal of social distancing measures in the mid-Atlantic region, which includes Maryland, Delaware, Washington D.C. and Virginia. The order allows restaurants, bars, retail businesses, gyms and religious establishments to operate at full capacity, and concert halls and arenas at half capacity. The order also lifted quarantine requirements for out of state travel. ....
