Elected Members Asked To Approve Public Consultation On Queenstown Bay Foreshore Reserves Management Plan

Elected members will be asked to approve public
consultation and the commencement of a partial review of the
Queenstown Bay Foreshore Reserves Management Plan 2016 at
the Full Council Meeting on Thursday 29 July 2021.
The
partial review will consider potential new commercial
activities in a defined area of the St Omer Park Recreation
Reserve, and include a potential new commercial licence area
immediately west of the Brunswick Street stormwater outflow,
provided there is an associated benefit to public users of
the reserve.

With the Queen to thank for this long weekend, we thought we’d take a look at the New Zealand towns named after Elizabeth II and her whānau.
Given the huge number of places named after British military types, I was surprised to find there aren’t many. Queenstown, Kingston and Alexandra are the only three settlements in Aotearoa said to be named after royals, perhaps as a result of the anti-royalist attitudes of the long-defunct New Zealand company, which essentially tried to turn us into a Little Britain. ....
