Herbert Jones on Watch List for Major Award It has been a great week for Alabama Basketball. The University of Alabama defeated The University of Kentucky 70-59 on Tuesday. The last time the Crimson Tide beat the Wildcats was 32 years ago in 1989. Not only is the basketball team seeing much success this season, but numerous players have been excelling. Specifically Herbert Jones who has been added to the watchlist for the Naismith Men’s Defensive Player of the Year. The Naismith’s Defensive Player of the year award is given every year to the best defensive player in men’s and women’s basketball. This award was created in 2018, in honor of James Naismith. ....

Everything from facilities and community buy-in, to the win-loss column, have undergone a noticeable evolution during his tenure as he has transformed the Rams into a bonafide contender among a slew of Class 4A powerhouses. Spurred by optimism amid the sustained success, the winningest football coach in Northside history will now return to the sidelines next year after initially announcing last August that he would retire following the 2020 season. Hilliker and the Rams are coming off one of the best seasons in school history, finishing 10-3 and advancing to the 4A quarterfinals in back-to-back years. ....
