10th anniversary of Helen DeVos Children's Hospital

A West Michigan family credits the hospital for saving their infant son s life.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. On January 11, 2011 the new $286 million Helen DeVos Children s Hospital opened. Since then, it has grown to become one of the top 50 Children s Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
The Helen DeVos Children s Hospital has help save the lives of hundreds of children in West Michigan. Including the Monroe family, whose 3 month old son s life was saved by dedicated staff on New Year s Eve 2015.
I kind of frantically yelled I have the heart baby and the door flew open they were ready, Holly Monroe said. She rushed her infant son Calvin to Helen DeVos at the urging of her pediatrician. We got there literally in the nick of time. They did all of these life saving measures. They shocked his heart twice. ....

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â Even though Santa has a big night Christmas Eve, he s spending Christmas week making sure he sees every good little girl and boy.

The virtual visits were child-life specialist at Helen DeVos, Molly Gering s idea.
Gering came up with the idea as Santa and Mrs. Claus have been coming to the hospital every holiday season for 8 years, but couldn t this year due to the pandemic. ....

Pandemic or no pandemic, illness or no illness, patients at Helen DeVos Children s Hospital are celebrating in a very sweet way with cupcakes!
Patients at Helen DeVos Children s Hospital have designed cupcakes, and they re now baked and on sale at The Salted Cupcake in Kentwood. They re only $4 each with $1 from each cupcake sold going the the Helen DeVos Children s Hospital.
It actually was a competition and six designs were selected from all the submissions as the winners.
Fox 17 reported that the Salted Cupcake owner, Korina Thompson said, It’s a lot of fun. We don’t usually work with food coloring that much, so just to be able to make these really cool creations is a lot of fun for everyone in the kitchen and the customers to see. ....
