Hermiston History: Police arrest suspect in chamber burglary

Hermiston Police arrested a suspect Monday in the Oct. 13 break-in and vandalism of the Greater Hermiston Chamber of Commerce offices in the Hermiston Community Center.
Police say revenge for a traffic citation may have been the motive for the vandalism.
Steven Rea Greenwalt, 36, was taken into custody without incident around 8:30 p.m. Monday. He faces two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief and one count of first-degree theft in connection with the break-in.
Hermiston Police Chief Andy Anderson said the break in the case came from information obtained through an anonymous source. The tip made the physical evidence collected since the break-in fall into place, he said. Anderson said Greenwalt’s action was directed at the city and the police over an incident the previous evening. ....
