A NEW defibrillator has been installed and ready for use at a care home. The lifesaving equipment unit is located to the front of Hempton Field care home on Lower Icknield Way in Chinnor and it is the seventh one in the area. The equipment was funded by Chinnor Parish Council. Council spokesperson Susan Ashdown, advised this latest installation supports the target to provide Chinnor with a public access defibrillator within every 400 metres, strengthening Chinnor in becoming a ‘safe community’. Care Home General Manager, Sharon Thursby said: “Our residents and staff were delighted, and extremely proud when they heard this potentially life-saving defibrillator would be installed to the front of their beautiful home.” ....

Sally Boult and Tracy Dodds have been working at Hempton Field care home, in Chinnor, for 20 years each. Ms Boult said she “loves every minute” of working at the care home, adding that she lives in the village and sees the home as an “extension” of her family. She started out as a carer, progressed on to senior carer and then infection control ambassador at the home. Ms Dodds started out as a bank employee and moved on to Hempton Field for a career in caring, saying she has developed “lasting” friendships with residents and colleagues. ....

RESIDENTS and staff at a South Oxfordshire village care home were among the first to get a dose of the newly-approved Oxford University/ AstraZeneca vaccine. Healthcare workers from Chinnor Surgery set up a mobile clinic at Hempton Field care home in Chinnor on Monday. Speaking about the vaccination programme that puts care home residents at the top of the priority list, home manager Sharon Thursby commented: “Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic. “We are very proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable people are protected in the Covid-19 pandemic. ....
