Months before an intoxicated off-duty Forest Grove police officer acted threateningly toward a family flying a Black Lives Matter flag, Washington County authorities determined that another Forest Grove police officer unlawfully ran a peaceful BLM protester through facial recognition technology. The incident last June, which was not reported publicly at the time, led the Washington County Sheriff s Office, which operated the program, to immediately shut off Forest Grove police access. Forest Grove Chief Henry Reimann went public about the incident earlier this month after the Pamplin Media Group sent him questions about it by email. He posted a letter from the chief on the city s website saying the facial recognition incident was an example of Forest Grove officials identifying and addressing mistakes. ....
Forest Grove cop arrested for role in BLM flag incident Bradley Schuetz has been arrested and charged with official misconduct in the first degree. Another Forest Grove police officer has been arrested in connection with an incident last October in which a family reported being terrorized in the middle of the night by an off-duty cop. Bradley Schuetz allegedly picked up Steven Teets, the off-duty cop, and gave him a ride home after Forest Grove homeowner Mirella Castaneda told a 9-1-1 dispatcher that Teets a stranger to her was on her front porch, pounding on her door and challenging the residents to come out and fight. ....

Last year, Officer Steven Teets, who was off-duty, vandalized Mirella Castaneda’s home and it may have been because of the Black Lives Matter flag in her front yard, The Washington Post reported. At first, it was reported that Teets acted alone, but new reports from The Oregonian say that Teets had a driver Officer Bradley Schuetz, who responded to the home when police were called. On Thursday, Schuetz was indicted before a grand jury on one count of first-degree official misconduct because he drove Teets home instead of arresting him and taking him in for investigation. ....
