The Literacy Lab is a nonprofit with a mission to close the literacy achievement gap in Virginia. They place trained tutors in partner elementary schools in Richmond and Henrico Public Schools to serve students from age three to grade three. The Literacy Lab is excited to announce the expansion of their Leading Men Fellowship, a program that trains young men of color to serve as Literacy Tutors for a full academic year in local preschool classrooms. The goal of the Leading Men Fellowship is to simultaneously add classroom capacity to ensure more students are entering school ready for kindergarten and to diversify the teacher workforce. They are currently accepting applications for The Leading Men Fellowship, which is open to young men age 18 to 24 who are interested in a career working with young people. The benefits are a living wage of $15 an hour, a monthly transportation and communication stipend, and a $2500 scholarship to be put toward future educational costs. ....
