Mayse earns three degrees CINCINNATI Derrek Reed Mayse graduated Cum Laude in April from the University of Cincinnati earning three degrees. He received a bachelor degree in Cybersecurity and a bachelor degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Computer Networking/Systems Administration. He also earned a Master degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity. His parents are Dan and Angela Mayse, of Sidney. He is a 2016 graduate of Houston High School. Mayse and his wife, the former Katherine Everett, also a Houston High School and University of Cincinnati graduate, are active in the H2O campus ministry. ....

State Board Selects Semifinalists for State Board Student Representative Program JACKSON, Miss. â The Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) has selected 10 semifinalists to serve as the SBE junior student representative in the 2021-22 school year, including a student from Houston High School. McKenzie Bivens was selected as a semifinalist for the SBE program. The SBE student representative program includes one high school junior and one high school senior who serve as non-voting SBE members and provide input on policy decisions that affect Mississippi public schools. The current junior SBE representative, Amy Zhang from the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, will serve as the senior representative in 2021-22. ....
Houston Community Association scholarship deadline set for May 5 HOUSTON The deadline for the Houston Community Association’s scholarship application is May 5. Eligble seniors can access the application at houstonca.org. The association has several graduation parties and wedding receptions currently scheduled throughout the spring and summer, with dates still available for hall rentals. Anyone interested in renting the building can contact 937-419-4197. The Houston Classic Festival is currently planned for Saturday, June 19, at the back of Houston School. Activites are planned for the day and several food vendors and a band will be present, as well. More information can be found on the association’s Facebook page. ....
