Fire sparked by space heater claims Thumb woman’s life on her 60th birthday

HUME TWP, MI A space heater in a Huron County home is believed to have sparked a fire that claimed a woman’s life on her 60th birthday.
About 7:25 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, Port Austin firefighters responded to a trailer house fire in the 1200 block of Port Austin Road in Hume Township. A passerby had reported the fire to Huron County Central Dispatch, according to Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson.
Firefighters discovered a body on the floor of the residence, near the doorway. Fearful that the structure could collapse, the firefighters pulled the body from the structure, Hanson said. ....
