KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 Buddhists in the country celebrated Wesak Day today on a moderate scale with the new normal practices in place due to the nationwide movement control order (MCO).
Although devotees are not allowed to visit temples, the use of technology has helped them to participate in prayer services via online streaming, as carried out by the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association and Bandar Utama Buddhist Society.
IPOH: Police here have issued compounds to six people for flouting the enhanced movement control order s standard operating procedures near Taman Bercham Raya.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the compounds were issued during a SOP-compliance operation at Dataran Perpaduan 3 on Tuesday (May 25) between 5pm and 7pm.
ACP A. Asmadi said among the offences committed included more than one person in a car and two people on a motorcycle. A Facebook user named Lieza Azahar had posted that there were issues related to disobeying the SOP in the residential area. The matter also gained some attention from the public and we acted on that information, he said in a statement.
