PORTLAND, Ore. After weeks of pushing for more places to get COVID-19 vaccine shots, one thing has become clear, according to Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Director Patrick Allen. There are now more systems ready to go than there are available shots.
“There are hospital systems working with local public health all across the state to stand up, or having already stood up as is the case with Salem mass vaccination sites, Allen said. And the biggest issue we’re having right now is how to supply them with enough vaccine to make them efficient and allow them to be high throughput. ....

Providers plan mass vaccinations at Oregon Convention Center

Eventually, providers hope to vaccinate 25,000 Oregonians per day.

PORTLAND, Ore. Oregon s biggest health care providers plan to launch mass vaccination events at the Oregon Convention Center starting this week.
The idea is to pool vaccine doses from each system for easier, faster distribution. Kaiser Permanente, Legacy Health, OHSU and Providence are all collaborating.
Kaiser and OHSU will launch the site on Wednesday, January 20 for 1a eligible community members. Vaccinations will be by appointment only. Both groups said they would administer as many doses as supply will allow. They will release more details in the coming days. ....

Hospitals in Oregon preparing for mass COVID-19 vaccinations

Douglas, Deschutes and Clackamas counties also asked for National Guard support for events.
Wasco County asked for a facility where they can do a mass vaccination event.
Multnomah County filed a request sent to them by Kaiser Permanente for National Guard support.
Kaiser plans to begin mass vaccinations at the Oregon Convention Center next week, said spokesman Michael Foley. The events will involve people in phase 1a of the state s vaccine distribution plan and will not be open to the public.
Portland s biggest hospitals are working together now to help get as many shots as possible to people in the 1a category. ....
