Deputies investigating fatal motorcycle crash

OSSEO – Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday on South Osseo Road near North Street, north of Osseo. 
The 49-year-old rider of a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle, identified as Wayne Leeroy Evener of Pittsford, was driving on South Osseo Road when he lost control of the motorcycle, which left the road and struck a mailbox, police said. Evener was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was not wearing a helmet, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office’s accident investigator continues an investigation into the crash.  ....

'Lost Faces of Fentanyl' walk a success

HILLSDALE By all accounts, the Lost Faces of Fentanyl memorial walk and awareness day held Saturday at Hillsdale s Moose Lodge was a bigger success than anticipated. 
Teresa Cole, organizer of the event, said around 75 people took part in the walk, which began at the lodge and continued through downtown Hillsdale, to raise awareness about drug addiction and remember loved ones lost to addiction. 
It definitely exceeded my expectations, Cole said. 
While the memorial walk unfolded, the parking lot at the Moose was bustling with activity, as guest speakers including Det. Sgt. Wes Ludeker, a veteran narcotics investigator with the Hillsdale County Sheriff s Office, spoke about the county s drug problems. ....

AMBOY TOWNSHIP The Hillsdale County Sheriff s Office reported Monday morning that four persons were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday in Amboy Township. 
Deputies were dispatched to E. Territorial Road near S. Bird Lake Road around 8 p.m. Sunday evening with paramedics and firefighters from the Wright-Waldron Fire Department, Jefferson Township Fire Department, Reading Emergency Unit, Hudson Area Ambulance and the Morenci Fire Department.
A news release stated the crash remains under investigation. 
A preliminary investigation showed that 19-year-old Korbin M. Paris of Montpelier, Ohio and passenger 23-year-old Paul A. Shaffer also of Montpelier were traveling south bound on S. Bird Lake Road when Paris disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and struck 60-year-old Randy Earl May of Waldron and passenger 55-year-old Lisa Marie Bell of Waldron who was traveling eastbound on Territorial Road. ....
