Ottawa sees another 176 COVID-19 cases as weekly trends hit record highs


 
OTTAWA
Ottawa Public Health is reporting another 176 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ottawa and one more person has died.
This brings Ottawa s pandemic totals to 18,436 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 469 deaths among residents since the pandemic began.
The weekly incidence rate of cases per 100,000 population continues to climb to record levels. This is the 13th straight day that Ottawa has reported a daily case count in the triple digits. It is the longest triple-digit case count streak of the pandemic so far.
OPH also reported nine new cases of suspect COVID-19 varaints and one more death is linked to a variant of concern or mutation. ....

Active COVID-19 case count in Ottawa surges to record high


 
OTTAWA
Ottawa Public Health is reporting another 237 people in Ottawa have tested positive for COVID-19, pushing the city s number of active cases beyond 1,800, the highest ever seen in the capital.
OPH s COVID-19 dashboard shows that there have been 18,260 total laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the first case was confirmed on March 11, 2020. 
One more person in Ottawa has died of COVID-19. The city s pandemic death toll now stands at 468 residents.
Monday s case count is just three cases shy of Saturday s record-breaking figure of 240 positive cases. On Sunday, medical officer of health Dr. Vera Etches warned Ottawans that cases are surging too quickly for the health system to keep up and that vaccinations will not be enough to turn the curve. She urged everyone to stay home as much as possible and limit close contacts with anyone outside of one s household.  ....

Ottawa surpasses 18,000 COVID-19 cases less than a week after surpassing 17,000


 
OTTAWA
Ottawa Public Health is reporting another 198 people in the city have tested positive for COVID-19, pushing the capital s pandemic total to more than 18,000 confirmed cases.
Ottawa surpassed 17,000 cases on March 29.
Sunday s report from Ottawa Public Health s COVID-19 dashboard shows Ottawa has seen 18,023 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the first case was confirmed on March 11, 2020.
No new deaths were reported on Sunday. The city s pandemic death toll stands at 467 residents.
The Ontario government did not provide a provicewide update on Sunday because of the Easter holiday. Ontario will release both Sunday and Monday s reports at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
There are more people in the hospital and in the ICU, and the number of people with known active cases of COVID-19 has surpassed 1,600. The city s incidence rate of new cases per 100,000 people is nearly 115 and the estimated reproduction number remains above 1, meaning the virus ....
