Kelly Barnes and Sally Lane, owners of Clover + Mint in Simcoe, were able to donate bags of high end items to Haldimand Norfolk Women’s Services. Over 40 per cent of the clients of the business decided to donate their items to Women’s Services, allowing the pair to drop off multiple bags of clothing and accessories. We spoke with Jane Scheel, the Executive Director at Haldimand-Norfolk Women’s Services. She said it was a difficult year for the organization, trying to provide supports while being COVID safe, and also a very difficult year for women facing abuse in the community. She likened it to an almost impossible choice, as women had to choose to stay with the abuser they knew or the virus that terrified them.

Art with Heart is hoping the community will pour out some love and support. The fun art studio, who has provided some much-needed fun for kids during the pandemic, has seen its share of setbacks and hiccups, from long delays to opening up their Simcoe location, to being forced to close twice due to the pandemic. Even with pivoting to a virtual model, it is still a thin line to walk on. Art with Heart is doing what they can to move ahead through these trying times, and that includes coming up with some unique ideas for fundraising. Founder Nikki Campbell said they realized that, during the pandemic, many adults are looking for an escape and fun things to do at home as well, so they decided to launch a take-home art kit targeting this audience. ....
