The Morrison Government is delivering on a $20 million commitment to rebuild native shell reefs, support local jobs and boost tourism with a three-hectare site at Port Stephens nearing completion.

Minister for the Environment Sussan Ley said Port Stephens would be the first of 13 Reefs to be completed around the country helping to restore a network of native shellfish reefs that will support precious marine eco systems and increase fish stocks in regions impacted by last year’s bushfires and now, in some cases floods. ....

Houston has seen its share of gruesome crimes over the years, dating back to the apparent poisoning of Rice University benefactor William Marsh Rice in 1900. But the following can be counted among the most unsettling in recent history.
1970-1973 - Houston s most notorious serial killings - Elmer Wayne Henley Jr., Dean Corll and David Owen Brooks committed a series of murders in which at least 28 teenage boys and young men were abducted, tortured, raped and murdered. Many were lured to Corill s home in Pasadena where they died. Most of their bodies were recovered from Corll’s southwest Houston boat shed. Others were buried in remote areas of East Texas and at the beach. Henley, now 65 and serving six life sentences, said he shot and killed Corll self-defense. Brooks died in prison of COVID-19 last year. ....

There’s no question that flooding is becomingworse due to the climate crisis pushing up our sea levels and making heavy downpours more common. But the risk doesn’t affect us all equally. A report released by the real estate brokerage firm Redfin this week shows that formerly redlined areas are more vulnerable to the threat of floods.

Redlining was a discriminatory lending practice in the 1930s, wherein house appraisers mapped cities for the federal Homeowners’ Loan Corporation with different colored lines to indicate how desirable areas were to live in. Neighborhoods deemed “best” or “still desirable” were marked with green and blue lines, respectively. Those considered “definitely declining” were marked in yellow, and zones declared “hazardous” overwh ....

Recording Academy Reminds Nominees You Can Crank Little Arm On Statue To Hear Supertramp’s ‘Breakfast In America’
SANTA MONICA, CA Pointing out the often-overlooked feature of the awards, the Recording Academy reminded nominees Sunday that they can crank the little arm on the statue to hear Supertramp’s
Breakfast In America. “While it’s certainly not the most exciting thing about winning a Grammy, the gilded gramophone playing all 10 tracks of Supertramp’s 1979 award-winning album is a fun little addition we don’t want anyone to miss out on,” said interim president of the Recording Academy Harvey Mason Jr., instructing potential winners to turn the handle to enjoy the album’s upbeat pop hits like “The Logical Song” and “Goodbye Stranger.” “Even though the sound isn’t great quality, it’s still a neat interactive bonus that gives everyone something extra to look forward to when they win. So, if you decide to give it a whirl, I suggest tryin ....
