Police: Man subdued with Taser after he broke into Bremerton building

BREMERTON – Police used a Taser to subdue a man who officers said was involved in a hit-and-run crash and later a break-in at a building on Auto Center Way on Sunday.
Prosecutors charged Jerry Shaver, 32, of Wenatchee, with gun and drug possession charges and a hit-and-run charge related to the incidents Tuesday in Kitsap County Superior Court.
Bremerton police said that they were dispatched to an alarm at the Agapé Unlimited building on Auto Center Way shortly after 11 a.m.
Officers arrived and found a man locked inside an office and after talking with him, determined that he was involved in a hit-and-run collision that damaged a power pole on Harlow Drive shortly before the alarm activation, police said in a news release about the incident. ....

Breaking: Police at scene of shooting on northeast side

SAN ANTONIO Police say a 28-year-old woman was found shot and killed at her home on the northeast side Monday morning in what police are calling a family violence murder.
Officers were called out around 7:15 a.m. to the M.C. Beldon Apartments in the 7500 block of Harlow Drive for a shooting in progress. 
Chief William McManus said at the scene that the woman was shot and killed in front of her three children. McManus said the woman was getting the kids ready for school when it happened.
Police did arrest a suspect and said there was a history between the suspect and victim going back to October 2018. McManus said the 30-year-old man had been arrested multiple times. He also said the suspect violated a protective order was out on bond for violation of that protective order. ....

Nine years after completing the largest contiguous private land conservation arrangement in the state’s history, additional W.D. Cowls forestland totaling 2,038 acres, between North Amherst and the Quabbin Reservoir, is being permanently protected.
Last week, state officials announced the creation of the Walter Cowls Jones Working Forest, which supplements the 3,486-acre Paul C. Jones Working Forest and will serve to protect water supplies locally and for Boston, preserve extensive wildlife habitat and promote continued production of timber.
The conservation restriction was purchased for $3.34 million, or $100,000 less than the appraised value, with public funding coming from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, U.S. Forest Legacy Program and the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game which will hold the conservation restriction and private funds raised by Kestrel Land Trust fr ....
