News-Messenger honored with General Excellence award in APME contest Staff report COLUMBUS - The News-Messenger was named among the top three newspapers in its division for the fifth straight year in the 2020 Ohio Associated Press Media Editors newspaper contest. The News-Messenger won second place for General Excellence in Division 1, which includes 38 daily publications with circulations of 7,999 or less, the largest number of competitors among the five divisions that are based on circulation numbers.
