The board of education selected Embekka Roberson, the district s assistant superintendent for student learning and inclusion, to lead the school district that spans Birmingham and parts of Bloomfield Township, Troy and West Bloomfield Township during a special meeting held June 8 at the BPS administration offices in Beverly Hills. FLORENCE â The Listerhill Foundation relaunched its Kicks For Kids program recently with the announcement that it will be providing a new pair of brand name shoes to each child at Harlan Elementary School in Florence. The program began in January of 2020, but had to be put on hold because of COVID-19. Harlan Elementary School principal, Dr. Thomas Casteel, is delighted. He explained, âThis is a tremendous reward for our pupils who have overcome so much this year. They will now have a pair of shoes to carry them through the summer which can be a particularly vulnerable time for many kids.â The shoe drop will take place next month in partnership with California-based, Shoes That Fit. Since their founding in 1992, Shoes That Fit has provided over 2 million pair of shoes to children across the US. ....
