BJP's bid to make granthi's arrest a Dalit issue finds few takers | Ludhiana News

JALANDHAR: BJP s attempt to make a Dalit issue out of the arrest of a granthi from the community who held an ardaas in the gurdwara of Bir Talab village in Bathinda district has not found any takers among Dailt organisations and activists, even as the saffron party claims otherwise. The common refrain from Dalit activists has been that BJP was attempting to create a riff between Sikhs and Dalits by also bringing in the Sirsa dera factor.
There are scores of Dalit groups and activists in Punjab and they usually react quickly to acts of discrimination and atrocities against community members, but they have remained silent on this issue. This is even after several BJP leaders, including those from upper castes, tried to make the arrest a Dalit issue and posted on their social media handles. There also appear few takers for BJP s claim that the case against granthi has been registered for his prayer for good health of Prime Minis ....
