At 1:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon two Redding police officers patrolling near Hartnell Avenue and Alfreda Way noticed the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that had been reported as a stolen vehicle. Officers Shahrok and Kasinger said that after their marked patrol vehicle was spotted, the pickup was quickly driven away from them on Reservoir Lane northbound towards E. Cypress Avenue. ....
Police said a Redding man used an assault rifle to shoot and severely injure his girlfriend and a neighbor at an apartment complex Friday night. The shooting by 36-year-old Benjamin Pouvi Fata left the woman and man in critical condition, police said. The two victims were being treated for their gunshot wounds at a local hospital and their names are not being released at this time. While officers were attending to the gunshot victims, police Lt. Pete Brindley said they saw flames at another apartment. Police said Pouvi Fata tried to set his apartment on fire following the shooting, which occurred while two small children were present. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. ....
