Hartford passes $584 million budget that will increase police officer pay, add 24 new city positions

Hartford’s city council approved a $584 million, no-tax increase budget for the upcoming fiscal year, a 2.85% increase that will raise pay for police officers and add 24 new positions across the city.
The body voted 7-2 in favor of the 2022 budget on Monday evening, with Working Families Party council members Wildaliz Bermudez and Joshua Michtom opposing. It increases spending by 2.85%.
The pay increases are being reviewed by a city council committee and must be approved by both council and the Hartford Police Union membership before they can take effect. ....

Hartford Officials to Hold Virtual COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall

“If you’re a Hartford senior – or you have a family member or neighbor who is a Hartford senior – we’re asking you to fill out our vaccine interest form. It’s quick and easy, and it’ll help us get you an appointment as soon as we can, Bronin added.
Anyone in Hartford who doesn t have a ride to get a vaccine can call 311 and the city will work to get you a free ride.
According to Bronin, the vaccine doesn t cost residents anything and no insurance is required, but if you have insurance, you should bring your insurance card to your appointment. ....

Officials say the message is clear: Stay Home, Stay Safe, and Tune In.
The New Year’s celebration will look very different this year with a 10-hour broadcast experience on Thursday, December 31.
From 2 p.m. to midnight, First Night Hartford 2021 will be broadcasting on Hartford Public Access TV, live streaming on Youtube and Facebook, and hosting workshops on Zoom. ....
