GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - A 58-year-old Vancleave woman has been identified as the victim in Wednesdayâs fatal crash on Cowan Lorraine Road.
Cynthia Burges was identified as the victim, said Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer.
Burges was headed northbound on Hwy. 605 when she attempted to turn left onto Carl Leggett Road, said the coroner, when a car heading southbound slammed into Burgesâ vehicle.

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - A three-month old baby shot Monday during a shootout between police and the infantâs father died due to a gunshot, said authorities on Wednesday.
The infant, who has been identified as LaâMello Parker, died from a single gunshot wound, said Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer.
The coroner did not state if the autopsy was able to determine whether that shot was made at close range or not. That information, he said, will be included in the autopsy report, which will be sent to investigators and the district attorneyâs office.
Victims identified in Gulfport double homicide WLOX Staff
GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - The victims of a double homicide in Gulfport Tuesday have been identified.
Juan Reginald Harvey Jr., 19, and Teraye Preston, 18, both of Gulfport, were named as the victims by Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer.

Officers received a call at 5:23 p.m. Tuesday in regards to a shooting in the area of Loposser Avenue and Layton Drive. When they arrived, they found Harvey inside a vehicle, dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Preston was found lying in the road suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Mississippi grand jury clears officer in fatal shooting of Covington man
GULFPORT, Miss. A grand jury says a police officer who fatally shot a Covington man outside a Gulfport, Mississippi, home last year did not commit a criminal act.
A Harrison County, Mississippi, grand jury on April 1 did not find evidence of criminal conduct by the Gulfport officer who shot Leonard Parker Jr., 53, of Covington, on Feb. 1, 2020, at around 3 a.m., WLOX-TV reported.
The officer was walking toward a house from which police had received multiple 911 phone calls when Parker started driving toward him, authorities said. That prompted the officer to fire his weapon, killing Parker, police told WLOX.
