Two inspirational boys from Powys who have been awarded for their amazing contribution to the community during the pandemic. Jak Savage, seven, and Harry Voice, eight, have been recognised as Little Sunshines by Morrisons supermarket in Newtown as part of its Seeds of Hope campaign. Community Champion Jenny Coppell said she had been looking for children who had been inspiring and considerate and shown great warmth and compassion . Jak, who is from Llanidloes, raised £3,500 for four food banks in Powys by running the equivalent of two marathons over four weeks. His fundraising challenge also helped safeguard his local food bank, Llani Pantri, for another year. ....
A NURSE and her young son have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Powys residents in ensuring many if not all of the most vulnerable children in the county will receive a toy this Christmas Sarah Voice, from Welshpool, a nurse from the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, has organised a Christmas toy appeal for the Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre in Newtown for the fifth year running. She has been helped again by her seven-year-old son Harry Voice, a pupil at Montgomery Church in Wales School. Ms Voice says this year the appeal has had its best ever response – and while there is no total figure yet on the number of toys donated, she says it is likely to be in excess of the 600 toys donated, last year. ....
Voice scores two as Goring continue perfect start to league season ); as they continued their winning start to the season in Division 3 of the Reading and District Sunday League. The first half was all Goring and they finally got their noses in front just before half time. A miss hit shot, landed at George Scoffham’s feet who crossed for Harry Voice to finish. The second half continued in the same vein and Dan Wallace converted from close range to double their advantage. Matty Hayden added the third with a well-placed finish and Harry Voice grabbed his second of the game, followed by a Tom Brownlow penalty, which was blasted into the net, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. ....
