The number of officers on the beat has plunged by 708 in just a decade. Tasked with fighting crime, the number of frontline officers has fallen from 3,748 in March 2010, to 3,040 officers in March 2021. This is a change of 19 per cent. The figures from the Home Office, show that in March 2010 there were 347 but in March this year, the figure stood at just 237 - a 32 per cent decrease.
