Letters to the Editor: An open letter to Cllr Ken Rhatigan

Open letter to Cllr Ken Rhatigan Thank you for your email concerning the Planning Application for a warehouse on land at Oakdown Farm Dummer.  In the email you state that ‘employment opportunities need to be right if the application is moved forward’. You also talk about ‘detailed information’.  Have you had assurances regarding the employment numbers from the occupier? If not, who has provided these? What meetings have you had with the occupier during 2020? Were any or all of these meetings prior to the article published in the Gazette on April 5, when you recommended that the councillors on the Development Control Committee approve the warehouse application?

Letters to the Editor: TVBC let down over parents graves

Dear Editor, My poor mother passed away in December 2019, and was laid to rest with my late father at Charlton cemetery in January 2020. To date their grave has not been flattened and remains an eyesore. We have communicated with Test Valley Council, through emails and phone calls. We have had several promises that this would be sorted to no avail. The excuses range through Covid, weather, supply of turf – none of which are believable as newer graves have been flattened. It isn’t as though no one has been working up there as unfortunately burials have continued. My sister has tried to contact local councillors to no avail.

Bloor Homes planned to fell trees during bird nesting season

CONCERNS raised about a housing developer felling trees during bird nesting season have stopped the work going ahead. Bloor Homes was looking to chop the trees down at the entrance to the Golf Club in preparation to build 1,000 homes on the site, after being granted permission for the development by the borough council last year. The developer was in discussion with Hampshire County Council’s Highways department regarding removing the trees to create an access to the site and was hoping to carry this out before the bird nesting season. However, concerns were raised because the bird nesting season – which runs from February to August – had already begun when the request was made.

Coronavirus outbreak: 22 deaths at Pemberley House Care Home

Hampshire County Council has been contacted for comment.  A spokesperson for the MHRA said there was no suggestion the deaths were linked to the vaccine, saying: “We are saddened to hear about any deaths which have occurred since receiving Covid-19 vaccination. However, our surveillance does not suggest that the Covid-19 vaccines have contributed to any deaths. “It is not unexpected that some of these people may naturally fall ill due to their age or underlying conditions shortly after being vaccinated, without the vaccine playing any role in that. We have robust surveillance systems in place to rapidly review all reports of suspected side effects to determine whether these are possible new risks, or coincidental.”
