Dawson Springs, Ky. (Hopkins County) – On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, around 1:19 AM, the Kentucky State Police Post 2, Madisonville was requested by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department to investigate a shooting on Hosick Avenue in Dawson Springs. Preliminary investigation revealed that Dakota Carter, 16, of Dawson Springs had suffered a gunshot wound. Dakota was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville, then flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is ongoing and foul play is suspected. A Dawson Springs man who had been reported missing Thursday was found deceased along Interstate 69 early Sunday morning. Trooper Rob Austin with Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville reports they were contacted by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department around 1:00 a.m. that a deceased male was found off of the southbound lanes of travel near the 103-mile marker on I-69. When KSP arrived on the scene Trooper Austin says they confirmed the deceased male was 29-year old Michael “Andrew” Dowd who was reported missing Thursday. On Friday, State Police had requested help from the public to locate Dowd who was last seen around 1:00 Thursday morning at a residence on Wells Road in Nortonville. ....
