There’s hope yet for the much-touted travel bubble between Hong Kong and Singapore. Travel within the bubble was set to begin last November. However, the bubble burst just days before it was to start. Now, three months later, both governments are in talks to breathe fresh life into the plan.

Government officials confirm talks are underway
A report in The South China Morning Post on the weekend revealed both the Singaporean and Hong Kong Governments were in talks to resume the travel bubble. Both the Hong Kong Tourism Commission and Singapore’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed discussions were underway. However, both declined to set a timeline for travel resuming between the two cities. ....

Streets around proposed Chinese embassy could be renamed


Mrs Khan said: “We welcome the relocation of the Chinese Embassy and its staff moving to Tower Hamlets.
“But as new neighbours and friends we must continue to make clear where our own standards and principles apply.”
The motion adds that the council should urge the Chinese and Hong Kong Governments to reconsider the imposition of National Security Law legislation and should campaign against the human rights’ abuses against the Uyghur Muslims.
Mrs Khan added: “The borough has a long and proud history of being the first home in the UK for many people fleeing persecution in their original countries. And that those earlier arrivals are now British citizens.” ....
