Updated 5/19/2021 7:56 PM Congratulations to our Glenview Stars Girls 14U 2nd Place in the 2021 USA Hockey National Championships! The Village of Glenview and our entire Glenview Stars organization are so proud of our 14U Glenview Girls team for earning 2nd place in the 2021 USA Tier ll 14U 1A Hockey National Championship! The Nationals were held April 29-May 3 in Denver, Colorado.
Eighteen Illinois hockey teams ranging from 14U-19U and one high school team competed for the title this year. Fourteen advanced to the quarterfinals and only four Illinois teams battled it out for the gold. Those teams were Glenview Girls 14U Tier ll, Mission 14U Girls Tier 1, Mission Girls 19U Tier 1 and New Trier Green High School. ....
A four year endeavor to give the Richardson Pioneer Recreation Centre in Shellbrook a much needed facelift, has officially wrapped up. The work done included major upgrades to the rink surface, heating system, bathrooms and lobby area, as well as the installation of a solar panel array outside the facility. In addition to lowering the rink’s carbon footprint, the town will also receive full retail value for electricity generated, through Saskatchewan’s Net Metering program. While the initial cost of the project was predicted to be over $2.1 million dollars, the steering committee came in under budget at just under $1.9 million. Mayor Amund Otterson attributed the difference to extensive help and support from volunteers, as well as an extension to the original one year plan. ....
