Jodhan ASI caught taking bribe | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: The Vigilance Bureau arrested an assistant sub-inspector posted at Jodhan police station while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 at Mansooran Chowk on Tuesday afternoon. Accused ASI Hakam Singh had demanded Rs 7,000 from the complainant. The deal was later struck at Rs 5,000. Complainant Nishan Singh of Sarabha village said, “My wife Manjit Kaur runs a boutique in the village. Another woman of the village, Ranjit Kaur, works as a helper there. On May 25, Ranjit had a fight with her husband Vajinder. When Vajinder started thrashing Ranjit, Manjit tried to rescue her. But Vajinder thrashed the two. After their medical examinations, the two lodged a police complaint. However, Vajinder somehow got a case registered against Manjit and Ranjit for beating him up.”

Image used for representational purpose LUDHIANA: Jodhan Police has booked a person, his mother, his two cousins for abetment to suicide after his uncle committed suicide, allegedly due to their harassment. The accused were identified as Bhagwant Singh, nephew (brother’s son) of the deceased Mohan Singh, his mother Gurmail Kaur, his son Dilpreet Singh, and his two cousins Jaswant Singh and Kulwant Singh (sons of other brother of deceased Mohan Singh). Complainant Gurjant Singh, son of deceased of Dolo Khurd, told police that his grandfather had divided property in the name of his father and his brothers in 2000. He added that the accused Bhagwant would trouble his father and stopped water to their fields and even snapped wire of their joint motor due to which they got their separate water motor installed.

Punjab farmer was murdered at Tikri border by sister-in-law, paramour: Police

2953 Ravinder Saini Jhajjar, April 5 Hakam Singh (61), a farmer of Patti Fuddu village in Bathinda district (Punjab), was murdered by a truck driver, Kulwant Singh, of Lopo village in Moga district at Tikri-Bahadurgarh border on March 25, police have said. Kulwant (48) was allegedly having an illicit relationship with Karamjeet Kaur (47), wife of Hakam’s younger brother, who was also involved in the crime. She allegedly pressured Kulwant to perpetrate the crime, the police said. The Bahadurgarh police arrested both the accused and produced them before a court which sent them to judicial custody. Hakam was found murdered with his throat slit behind new bus stand in Bahadurgarh town.
