HAVERI: With only 6,900 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in stock as on Monday evening, the vaccination drive in Haveri district could be hampered unless the district receives fresh vials quickly, healthcare workers said.
The district administration has sent in a requisition for 2.5 lakh doses. As on Monday, the district received a total 85,680 doses of which 78,750 doses have already been administered.
Some beneficiaries returned home without receiving the vaccine on Monday itself due to a shortage at the Haveri district hospital. “I returned home as the hospital said they did not have vaccine doses and staff advised us to come back on Tuesday,” said Mounesh Arkasali, a resident of Ijarilakamapur.
Bureaucratic hiatus: After the fire gutted all the documents, farmers were unable to transfer the title deed of their land
HAVERI: In a first in the state, Haveri district administration has decided to recreate and rebuild all important documents that were gutted when a few angry farmers protesting against the irregular supply of water, set the revenue record office in Savanur on fire on April 29, 2000.
Due to the fire, more than 10,000 farmers of 33 villages under Savanur’s Kasaba hobli lost their land records and that in turn deprived them of loans and other government benefits. Following Haveri deputy commissioner’s order to recreate the destroyed documents by referring to the supporting documents preserved in the department at the earliest, the revenue authorities have commenced the work already.
