Free classes, summer advising and scholarships to UH

The University of Hawaii Community Colleges and Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education, together with community partners, will once again offer the Next Steps to Your Future program to support Hawaii’s Class of 2021 public high school seniors.
Next Steps to Your Future will engage and guide graduating seniors in transitioning to their post-high school plans while connecting them to postsecondary education and training opportunities. Eligible students will also have an opportunity to take free summer career exploration classes from UH Community Colleges.
“As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to challenge Hawaii’s high school seniors in their final year, we are committed to providing the support they need to achieve their potential on their paths to better futures for themselves and our islands,” said UH President David Lassner. ....

Aloha Stadium may close for 3 years

Today during the State House update on University of Hawaii and Hawaii Community Colleges with UH President David Lassner,  House Higher Education Committee member Representative Lynn DeCoite said that Aloha Stadium Authority just confirmed that the Stadium will close for three years.
She said any events currently scheduled at the stadium will be held, subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
The 50,000-seat stadium opened in 1975 and has hosted many types of large events–concerts, car shows, soccer matches, fair– including being the home stadium for the UH Warriors Football Team.
UH President David Lassner  during the hearing said he himself had just learned of the closure.  He said if the stadium cannot be used for the UH Warriors Football team, the University has to find another venue.  Higher Education Committee Chair Gregg Takayama suggested the University might use one of the high school stadiums already set up for televisi ....
