Body formed to hear complaints against food authority

Practical steps are being taken to promote food safety culture in Sindh, the provincial food minister has said. Hari Ram Kishori Lal is also the chairman of the Sindh Food Authority (SFA).
During the SFA’s seventh board meeting he chaired on Thursday, it was decided that a grievance redressal committee headed by the food secretary will be formed to expedite the hearing of complaints against the authority, simplify the process of issuing licences and ensure the provision of minimum wages.
Lal warned all the officials that any negligence caused by them will not be tolerated at all, stressing that the rules and regulations of the SFA must be complied with as soon as possible.

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Friday echoed with strong criticism of the federal government over the acute shortage of gas in the province which was getting about 900 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) against its requirement of 1,700mmcfd.
Replying to a calling-attention notice moved by Nand Kumar Goklani of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) in the house, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh said that the province produced 64 per cent of total gas in the country and its people had the first right on it under the Constitution.

Sindh Minister for Food and Minority Affairs Hari Ram Kishori Lal suffered a heart attack during a meeting in Karachi.
The food minister was rushed to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) for medical treatment.
The minister was chairing a meeting of the department when he suffered a heart attack.
He was elected to the Sindh Assembly on Pakistan People’s Party seat from constituency PS-47 (Mirpurkhas-I) in the 2018 general elections.
Hari Ram Kishori Lal was earlier elected to the Senate on PPP ticket in 2012.

The police recovered Mohan Lal in an operation in Ghotki’s Katcha area on Tuesday, after his appeal for ransom went viral on social media.
The ransom video of Lal, a cobbler who went missing from Ghotki district on Saturday, went viral on social media on Tuesday, prompting the police into action four days after the fact.
Lal, who belongs to the schedule caste Hindu community, left his home in Daharki on May 8 (Saturday) and did not return.
