Minister felicitates Mirpurkhas residents on approval for varsity July 20, 2021 Congratulating the people of Mirpurkhas Division on the approval of Ibn-e- Sina University by the Sindh cabinet, Minister for Food and Minority Affairs Hari Ram Kishori Lal said on Monday that it was progress towards the fulfillment of a promise made to the people of the region. He said it was his dream to facilitate the people in obtaining higher education which would soon be realised. “Only educated youths are the best architects of the nation.” Lal said that in the next phase, approval for the varsity would be sought from the Sindh Assembly. He said the people of Mirpurkhas would never forget the efforts of the late Imdad Ali Ismaili for the establishment of the university, who prepared the documents for its establishment in the early stages, while the funds were provided by Kiran Hari Ram in his personal capacity.

Sindh minister takes notice of alleged abduction of Hindu girl July 7, 2021 KARACHI: Taking notice of reports of the alleged abduction of a Hindu girl in the Kotri area, Sindh Minister for Food and Minority Affairs Hari Ram Kishori Lal contacted the DIG Hyderabad on the phone on Tuesday and directed him to take immediate steps for her recovery. He said the family had alleged that police were involved in the incident, which should be investigated immediately and an FIR lodged. The family was said to have called for the submission of a report as soon as possible. The minister said that according to the girl’s parents, she works in a cotton factory. He said the suspects should be arrested and strict action taken against them as per the law. Lal also directed the district administration to extend all possible cooperation to the affected family.

‘Sindh has completed several welfare projects for minorities’ July 4, 2021 Sindh Minister for Food and Minority Affairs Hari Ram Kishori Lal said on Friday that during the recent tenure of the PPP government, work had been completed on several development projects for the welfare of minority communities across the province. He expressed these views while meeting a delegation of the Human Rights Youth Minority Organisation. Michael Bashir Khokhar led the delegation. Lal said that the minority communities in Pakistan, especially in Sindh, had complete freedom to perform their religious rites. He said the PPP had taken steps for the welfare of the minority communities during the current financial year.

The leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Haleem Adil Sheikh, said the PTI MPAs had boycotted the session to protest against suspension of the eight MPAs of the party. The eight PTI lawmakers, including parliamentary leader of the PTI in the House Bilal Ahmed Ghaffar, were suspended from the current session of the provincial legislature owing to their unruly conduct last Monday when they had brought a charpoy in the assembly as a mock coffin of democracy.
