Katsina State government has approved the repatriation of 7,893 Almajirai from the state to their respective states, or countries of origin.
252 of the Almajirai are from the Niger Republic.
Governor Aminu Masari gave the approval at the weekly state executive council meeting.
The repatriation is the outcome of a committee on the identification and collation of data of Almajirai schools, which was charged with the responsibility to identify Almajiri schools in the state, their locations, names of the pupils, names of the tutors, and to repatriate the non-indigenes. ....

The word ‘vaccine’ sounds like poison to many Nigerians. The most common allegation making the rounds is that it is a ploy by the pharmaceutical industry and their sponsors “to make money and depopulate Africa.”
For this reason, more and more Nigerians are turning to herbal medicine, to ‘prevent’ the spread of Covid-19 despite having not proven to be a remedy for the pandemic which has claimed close to two million lives world-wide.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Covid-19 cases in Nigeria have surpassed 100,000. On January 13, 2020 alone, 1398 new cases and nine deaths were recorded in the country. At the time of filing this report, total cases were 103,000 with 1,373 deaths. ....

ECOWAS donates food items to displaced families in Borno – Ministry

Maiduguri, Jan. 9, 2021 ECOWAS Commission, on Saturday, donated food items worth millions of Naira to displaced families in Borno, to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic and the humanitarian situation in the state.
Handing over the items on behalf of the Commission, in Maiduguri, Alhaji Grema Ali, the Director, Humanitarian Affairs, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, said that the gesture would help the most vulnerable households cope with the multiple crises, while safeguarding their livelihoods.
Ali said that the donations included 3,000 bags of cereals, adding, “at least five trucks of such items were distributed in Borno, Bauchi, Yobe, Kogi Katsina and Zamfara states by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs on behalf of ECOWAS,” he said. ....

I sold 6,000 dead poultry meat to Borno residents for 5 years, says suspect

Maiduguri, Jan. 6, 2021 A 33-year-old suspect, Hassan Ebere, has revealed how he sold 6,000 dead poultry to residents of Maiduguri for five years so as to raise money for his livelihood since he lost his father.
Ebere made the revelation while speaking with journalists , after being paraded by the Borno Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), on Wednesday.
“I usually go to the Ngadabul river, behind Borno Radio Television (BRTV) complex, to pick the carcasses of poultry that are thrown away from poultry farms.
“So every week, I pick at least ten or even more than that, then process it and take it to sell to unsuspecting customers. ....
