Houston police reviews past arrests made by former officer Tam Pham, who faces federal charges related to Capitol riot


HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) Hours after a former Houston police officer was taken into federal custody on charges related to the U.S. Capitol riots, authorities announced they re reviewing arrests he made during his career.
We are also auditing arrests made by this former officer to ensure there are no irregularities, to include the review of his body worn camera footage related to his arrests, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said in a statement mentioning the department s joint investigation with the FBI into Tam Pham, an 18-year HPD veteran.
Pham, 48, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday morning and was awaiting word on an initial court appearance, defense attorney Nicole Deborde told ABC13. ....

FBI Houston tracking down threats ahead of Inauguration Day


HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) With just days before Inauguration Day, the FBI Houston division said it will focus on gathering and coordinating with local partners on potential threats between now and Jan. 20.
In a statement released Thursday, the FBI said the agency has not received any specific threat. FBI Houston also announced it is actively working on identifying those who were involved in the siege of the Capitol and those who continue to incite violence and engage in criminal activity in Houston.
A new FBI assessment obtained by ABC News says individuals or groups could converge around the country and threaten or use violence at events planned to occur through at least Inauguration Day. ....

Tam Pham, 48, worked for HPD for 18 years and was assigned to Westside Patrol.
Speaking briefly outside his home this afternoon, Pham asked for the privacy of his family to be respected. He then went inside without answering any reporter questions.
Pham was identified by sources as the officer who traveled to Washington on Jan. 6 and penetrated the Capitol during the Congressional joint session to certify Joe Biden s electoral win.
He has hired defense attorney Nicole Deborde to represent him in any potential criminal proceedings.
It was more curiosity to see the President s speech with a large group of people, said Deborde. He was curious what the President had to say. It s something that spun out of control. HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) A Houston police officer was identified Wednesday as part of the thousands who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, which interrupted a Congressional joint session to certify Joe Biden s electoral win and left five people dead, including a U.S. Capitol police officer, according to Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.
On Sunday, I received information from an individual that one of my officers may have been in D.C. for the protest and that they may have participated in the attack on the Capitol, Acevedo said. This individual has been determined that, on his own time to not only have attended a rally, which is their First Amendment right, but this individual is determined to have actually penetrated the Capitol. ....
