An inspirational 9-year-old girl has completed a 40km charity walk to raise £15,550 for street children in Bangladesh. Hannah Miah of Oldham wanted to helped street children during Ramadan and set herself a target of £1,000. But her inspiring words and but thanks to overwhelming community support, she smashed her goal and has raised over £14,000 for the cause. She said she wanted to raise awareness of the daily struggles that the children are facing. According to the UN, there are an estimated 600,000 street children in Bangladesh. Often they are abandoned or trafficked into the most unspeakable of situations and face the dangers and perils of street life. ....

Heroic Hannah raises over £10,000 for desperate Bangladesh street children Date published: 04 May 2021 Nine-year-old Hannah Miah Heroic nine-year-old Lyndhurst Primary School pupil Hannah Miah has walked a total of 40km in an effort to raise money towards the desperate plight of street children in Bangladesh. Warm-hearted Hannah’s initial target was to raise £1,000 for the cause, but she has so far raised over £10,000 - and donations are still coming in! Hannah’s older sister Amana has also made £600 profit selling sweets, with 100% of the cash raised going towards Hannah’s charity. Hannah’s proud dad Jewel said: “The support from everyone in the community has been unbelievable and has brought everyone together. ....
The Arkansas state legislature s first foray into education vouchers was in 2015, when it created the state-funded Succeed Scholarship for children with disabilities. Launched the following year, the program currently gives parents nearly $7,000 per year to help send an eligible child to a private school. Not a single legislator voted against the bill, a rare achievement for school choice legislation in a state where public schools have historically gotten bipartisan support. In the program s first year, it funded just 23 students. Today, it s assisting 479 students and costing the state $3.3 million a year, according to the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). Eligibility has been expanded to include some children in the foster care system. The scholarships are administered by ADE and the Reform Alliance, a nonprofit group funded in part by the Walton Family Foundation, a lead backer of school choice reforms in Arkansas. ....
