New Hampshire companies call for enhancing state’s energy-efficiency standard
In letter to PUC, they urge boost, citing ‘most cost-effective energy resource available’

More than two dozen New Hampshire businesses have issued a call to speed up energy-efficiency investments in the state by increasing the state’s energy-efficiency resource standard.
The companies – including Filtrine of Keene, Garland Mill of Lancaster, Lonza of Portsmouth, Stonyfield Organic of Londonderry and Worthen Industries of Nashua – have signed a letter to the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission calling for members to hike the energy-efficiency resource standard, or EERS, as part of the 2021-23 Statewide Energy Efficiency Plan. ....

BRATTLEBORO — In 2017, Jessica Callahan Gelter joined the Brattleboro Planning Commission as a way to give back to the community.
“And it’s been really wonderful,” she said. “I want to do more.”
Much of the commission’s work is long term without impacts being seen right away, Gelter said. She hopes serving on the Select Board will provide opportunities to bring about more immediate effects.
“I guess I’m feeling antsy amidst the pandemic,” she said, finding more time to get involved in local government.
She’s one of six candidates running for two one-year terms on the board in the March 2 election. Other candidates include incumbent Daniel Quipp, Evan Chadwick, Kurt Daims, Rikki Risatti and Jackson Stein. Gary Stroud dropped out of the race, citing a diagnosis of prostate cancer. ....

“Let us help you help yourself”: Awardees Announced for the First-Ever Round of SoVTYPs Professional Development Grant Program
Vermont Business Magazine The Professional Development Grant Program is the newest offering for Southern Vermont Young Professional members. The Southern Vermont Young Professionals (SoVTYPs) is a workforce initiative of Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS) and the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC).
The SoVTYP mission is to attract, retain and support Young Professionals in Southern Vermont by providing engaging opportunities and networking through social and educational events, and volunteer opportunities.
The pilot grant program was developed to support YP members who are advancing, or pivoting, their career by providing financial assistance to help them achieve those career goals. The first round of applications were due December 1st, 2020, with awardees notified ....

Brattleboro Select Board candidates announced


BRATTLEBORO — Eight candidates have come forward for three Select Board seats opening up in March.
Board member Ian Goodnow is finishing his first one-year term and seeking a three-year term. Rikki Risatti, who ran in last year’s election, also is on the March 2 ballot for the three-year seat.
“It has been a challenging but fulfilling year on the board,” Goodnow said. “I am humbled having had the opportunity to meet and work with so many dedicated individuals who are striving to make Brattleboro the best place it can. I love the town and I love the work of the board, and I want to do it for the next three years. And I hope that Brattleboro wants me to do that work, too.” ....
