Whanganui letters: Speed limit silliness - 100km/h in a residential area

Whanganui Chronicle
Who is responsible for this bureaucratic silliness? Silly as Pickwick Rd is a residential area, with a narrow road, no footpaths and no street lights. A safe speed would be 50km tops.
Silly as these signs are a waste of time and money.
Silly as 30 metres beyond the signs increasing the speed limit to 100km, there is a sign warning of pedestrians.
There is no need for speed signs on Pickwick Road, but if we are going to have them, common sense would say 50km not 100km.
