Fife College confirm two day lecturer strike cancelled because of holidays


A strike was cancelled at the college last week because the establishment was on holiday.
The EIS Further Education Lecturers’ Association had announced the two days of industrial action would take place last Wednesday and Thursday at colleges across the country in a row over the replacement of lecturers with poorer-paid, lower-qualified staff.
However, Fife College have confirmed that it was cancelled at their facility because it was closed for the Easter break.
Strikes which did take place followed similar action last Wednesday which the EIS Further Education Lecturers’ Association say came after the refusal of college employers, and their representative body Colleges Scotland, to ratify an agreement based largely on their own proposals that would have ended the dispute. ....

New Fife College and St Columba's and Woodmill schools to be ready in 2024


A PLANNING application for the world class £180 million Dunfermline Learning Campus has been submitted to Fife Council.
Proposals by Shepherd Offshore for their site at Halbeath shows 60 acres set aside for Fife College s new home as well as replacement high schools for St Columba s and Woodmill.
The campus is due to be completed by the autumn of 2024.
College principal Dr Hugh Hall said: The Dunfermline Learning Campus will be a ground-breaking development for the Kingdom and we’re incredibly excited at the prospect of what we can achieve on this site.
“We aim to create a truly collaborative learning environment for students of all ages that offers a wide range of opportunities. ....
